Leaders’ Bios

Olga Tacure, Executive Director

Olga Tacure is the Executive Director of Women Encouraging Empowerment, Inc (WEE). She joined WEE as a Parent Lead Organizer in 2017 working on a District wide Family engagement Policy which was approved by School committee in 2021 and now is in effect. Shortly after serving at WEE’s Board of Directors, she was hired as the new Executive Director In 2019.

Deeply committed to public education and education equity, Olga helped launch the Revere Education Justice Alliance (REJA). She was one of the first immigrant women to serve in a leadership role on Revere High School’s PTO and is an alumni of the Parent Leadership Training Institute, Alumni of Institute for Nonprofit Practice and and Alumni of The Boston Foundation Women of Color Learning Cohort. Her extensive past community involvement includes working with the Revere Cares Coalition as a Union Capital Boston Network Leader, and serving on the City of Revere’s Master Plan Steering Committee. 

​Olga is originally from Peru, has received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing in Lima-Peru and later volunteered using her medical skills at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. With her personal experience as an immigrant, olga brings a deep passion for working with immigrants and understanding the barriers and challenges they face firsthand, advocating for changes that improve people’s lives. Olga has spearheaded various projects aimed at enhancing civic participation, promoting diversity and Inclusion. Olga is deeply invested in understanding the unique needs and perspectives of community members, ensuring that programs and initiatives are inclusive and responsive.

 

Clauna Laurent, Deputy Director

Clauna Laurent will be working closely with the Executive Director, Olga Tacure to oversee WEE’s daily operations, with the goal of empowering immigrants, and low-income families to thrive civically, economically and socially. This includes overseeing the planning and implementation of all WEE’s programs, Staff and Community planning.

Widely considered a coalition builder, a change agent, and effective communicator, Clauna, who comes to us from New Jersey, began her Public Service career by working at the Community Planning and Advocacy Council. As the Executive Director of Senior Services for Camden, Gloucester and Burlington County Managing Americorps Grants for the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) She then went on to work for the State of New Jersey, Department of Labor, Workforce and Development, where she worked as an Advocate for the Migrant Seasonal Farm Workers (MSFW) and undocumented workers in the role of Director or Employee relations and MSFW State Advocate.

Ms. Laurent is a graduate from Liberty University. She is the proud daughter of immigrant parents, has 5 siblings, is Wife to a Champion for Change, and a mother of two amazing children. When she’s not working, you will find Clauna... Before moving to Boston, Clauna was a member of Parent Inc. Foundation’s Network, a member of the Human Services Advisory Committee (HSAC), and a fellow of the Haitian Women Network Executive Leadership Program, just to name a few.
