Revere Works Community Coordinator

Reports To: Director, WEE 

Job Overview 

This role is a key participant in both a city and regional effort to advance access to skills and training for residents of Revere to attain employment and increase retention in the workplace. Responsibilities include organizing and keeping community partners, known as the Revere Works Coalition, on task to follow and implement a work plan (already created for 2022) and think ahead for future projects to implement. The 2022 Work Plan focus areas include connecting residents to training & employment, engaging employers, increasing affordable childcare access, building higher education partnerships, and strengthening youth employment opportunities. Regionally, this role escalates city issues and barriers to the Project Manager of a regional coalition to strategize systems and policy change. The coordinator informs, leads and/or supports efforts for outreach to the diverse population of Revere residents and fosters strong partnerships with community stakeholders including employers, training providers and business owners. The Coordinator will assess community needs, collect and interpret data, and measure progress of action items against work plan priorities. 

This is a full-time position based in Revere that reports to the Director of Women Encouraging Empowerment, Inc. (WEE). WEE is a community-based organization that has served Revere for over 10 years and whose mission is to educate, protect and advance the rights of immigrants, refugees and low income women and their families. The Community Coordinator will provide and receive support by the Project Manager of the regional coalition mentioned above.

The Revere Works Coalition is committed to engaging Revere residents throughout this project for workforce development to inform and prepare individuals with the knowledge, skills and training necessary for entry and re-entry into new fields of quality employment. Coalition partners include the City of Revere, Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), The Neighborhood Developers (TND), Mass Hire Metro North (MHMN) Workforce Board, Revere Community Schools (RCS), Moroccan American Connections in Revere (MACIR), Revere High School. 

Responsibilities and Duties

Revere Works Coalition Activities 

  • Coordinate monthly coalition meetings including agenda planning, creation and distribution to members and guests. Document notes, action items and follow up as needed.

  • Continue developing and strengthening the coalition engagement through creation of  protocols and policies, and group bonding activities.

  • Work with community representatives on social media campaigns to raise awareness of the Coalition to the broader community. 

  • Align internal communication between partners. 


Regional Activities

  • Attend additional coalition meetings.

  • Research local & state systems and policies to advocate and initiate change regarding early childcare, employee rights, employer/employment practices, and support services for diverse communities. 

WEE Duties

  • Engage with staff, board and participants at WEE as appropriate and needed. 

  • Perform other related duties assigned by the Director of WEE.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: 

  • Highly organized and adaptable 

  • Experience facilitating group discussions and maintaining productivity

  • Ability to handle multiple projects/tasks simultaneously 

  • Ability to write and speak clearly to various audiences 

  • Ability to manage different personalities in large groups

  • Ability to prioritize, problem solve and exercise good judgment 

  • Self-directed work style with great follow up skills 

  • Good relationship-building and networking skills. Effective interaction and development of meaningful relationships with people and organizations of various cultural backgrounds.

  • Knowledge of workforce development 

  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Zoom, Microsoft Office, online surveying tools

  • Comfort and experience using and posting on social media (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc)

  • On occasion attending community events which may occur during evenings and weekends 

  • Consistent & reliable internet access

Preferred:

  • Bilingual (Spanish) 

  • Familiar with or resident of Revere and  surrounding area

Salary: $45,000- 47,000
